Arguably, though, it's funnier when you see a good gag on shows that don't have many regular laughs. I used to enjoy the more comedy-oriented episodes of the X-files, for example, which was usually pretty po-faced.

Some jokes need more setup than others.

When 'Jose Chung from Outer Space' came along it was wonderful precisely because of how much ground had been covered in the series by then.

I'm trying to watch HBO's series 'Girls'. It was recommended to me by someone who actually said, "I don't like it, you should take a look and see what you think?"

My big problem so far is that the acting is really not very strong. I can see it being the sort of show where people grow into their roles and shape them in the process, but right now its a bit like a professional looking student film.

I think the acting is better than in Dunham's previous movie, Tiny Furniture, but it probably could still be stronger. I'm not a huge fan of the Zosia Mamet character; she seems a bit too broad at the moment.

Ok, first episode down.

Does it get better? I wouldn't hang out with these people by choice if they were real, as fiction they're really not entertaining me.

Well, there's only two episodes so far, and I preferred the second one.

Watching an episode of the Crystal Maze. The team captain got locked in on the very first game. Got a sneaky suspicion these guys are going to be terrible.

EDIT: They - shock horror - didn't win the grand prize at the end.

Yeah, that's exactly the episode I was thinking of.

There's a fun one a few seasons later with fake vampires too.

My commentary is up thread, but long story short, I wasn't impressed. I haven't gotten to the second episode, there's too much to watch at the moment and it's too low on my priorities, but I might get there eventually.

That's the one told in different versions by Scully and Mulder, isn't it? That was a great episode.

My favourite funny X-Files story is Dreamland, the one where Mulder and Michael McKean swap bodies. That was hilarious.

The final event in the Crystal Maze is one of the cruelest things I have ever seen in a game show. All the work the teams put into winning crystals barely helps them at all!

Another good one. The bit with the wardrobe full of black suits is a great little moment.

tower heist. really enjoyed it. fun, entertaining, and the cast was great.

30 minutes or less. hated the cast, it was very unfunny, and i found it offensive as a woman.

I haven't seen it, what was offensive about it? Does it not have any women in it? Now that I remember the trailer, I can't remember seeing a single girl.

Absolute shite in every conceivable manner. I'm a fan of 'found footage' films despite their faults but this one is beyond redemption. Terribly shot (yes, even for a FF film), atrocious acting and so, so dull. I can't stress this enough: AVOID!

Tried and failed to re-watch Old School since the disc from LOVEFiLM was pretty much ruined. Which is a shame because I forgot how funny it was before only getting halfway through and switching it off. Vaughn is probably the funniest I've seen him in this film.
There's tons of parallels to Fight Club in it too which is great fun.

Also rented No Country For Old Men. Awesome film, fantastic cast and wonderful villain. Loved it.

Anyone else watched Ink! Alter Egos Exposed, a 10 part TV Show on comicbooks?

They've got many top creators interviewed. Each episode is generally themed (Indie comics, women in comics etc). It was shown on the Sky Arts channel, I'd say it's worth catching.
