PS- Off to watch last weeks episode so I know what you all are talking about.

Well, Betty sure got fat.

I really like the additions of Michael Ginsberg and Dawn, especially since what a lot of us think of as the '60s is really starting to kick off and intrude into the SCDP world. I think Michael is going to be a fantastic addition to the office: the young unconventional man who is completey different from Don yet idolizes him.

I also like the work relationship that's developed between Peggy and the artist guy whose name I never remember. They've got a real brother-sister thing that the characters have grown into.

The best bits of the first three hours though? Roger really beginning to feel his age and Harry getting stoned and housing 20 White Castles.

Not a fan of Fat Suit Betty. Hopefully she won't appear much.

The scene at the new employee's home was odd. Have we ever followed one of the non-main characters away from the office before? I can't even recall scenes of Ken or Harry alone without one of the other regulars.

The show does not ever miss a beat..The first 3 hours have been perfectly paced and plotted.

You're all right..Fat Suit Betty is so disturbing to look at..at times I felt like I was looking at that mutated senator from the first Xmen movie as be slowly becomes gelatinous.

It's interesting to see how in the early seasons, Draper was kind of a legend among the middle aged ad men, but now he's almost revered by the counter culture youth of the 60's.

break up scene was awesome. i HATED her husband, as was glad to see him go. i loved the scene at the end of joan, her mother, and the baby between them, sans a man.

i found people's reactions to the chicago massacre pretty odd, particularly when betty's mother-in-law was describing it to sally. props to the new guy for telling them off.

strangles that woman was a dream sequence, but i could totally see him doing something like that. i was more surprised that it was a dream than reality.

i loved sal, i really did. he was one of my favourite characters, and i always liked scenes where he was with his wife in their apartment. i'm fairly certain that the creator of the show said sal would never be back though.

That sucks. I aalways saw him as a tragic figure, not only becauese he couldn't out himself,. but becaue he was fired for showing a bit of integrity. While guys like Harry keep their jobs while being complete asses.

i agree, i don't see why he had to be fired. and i dislike harry very much. given the era, it's kind of hard being a chick and watching that show.

Sal was fired because Lee Garner Jr. would have pulled all of Lucky Strike's business from British Sterling Cooper, which would have made them fold the company sooner than they did.

Harry started out as kind of sympathetic -- he felt guilty about sleeping with Pete's then-secretary and told his wife, with hilarious results -- now he's just annoying -- thinking that his Hollywood connnexions will get him some tail.

Maybe he is doing something else. The way Don fired him made me think he wouldn't want him back though.

i actually liked kinsey, he seemed like less of a louse than the others, but i had completely forgotten about him until you mentioned his name.

SCDP had massive layoffs after losing Lucky Strike, so they couldn't get Sal back... and Don was pissed at Sal because he knew Sal was gay and expected him to whore himself out, like Don did with that Utz schmuck's wife.

Kinsey was a damn hippie.

I liked Sal too, it'd be interesting to see what he's up to, especially as he was directing before he was let go - though seeing what eventually became of Midge was just sad.

It's amusing that SCDP are being forced into the current climate and diversifying - mainly due to that lame joke ad backfiring.

I like the Pete/Roger rivalry building up - like a WASPy version of Christopher/Paulie Walnuts from the Sopranos.

Love that very apt comparison. I think it's a great twist for Roger to be the one fighting to prove his relevance to the firm while Pete is making his bones by being competent, not a smarmy little pissant trying to worm his way into his superiors' good graces.

Fun fact about Pete: his mom's family is descended from the Dyckmans, some of the oldest Dutch settlers in Manhattan. They owned most of the land in upper Manhattan, where I grew up. Their family farmhouse is still preserved there.
