On a different note, The New Yorker have a good, very long, article on Armando Iannucci ahead of the debut of Veep: http://www.newyorker...currentPage=all

Like Mad Men, the 1959-set Magic City, premiering April 6, is on guard against the slightest anachronistic miscue. But there are a few more things on display, given that the drama — which centers on a charming Miami hotelier played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan — features frequent full-frontal female nudity. (Magic City will appear on premium cable channel Starz, also the home of Spartacus, well known for its au naturel mise-en-scene.)

Today’s Brazilian waxing would look out of place. “We wanted to be historically accurate across the board,” says showrunner Mitch Glazer. “It sounds insane, but it was an issue to find women of a certain age who were period-correct.”

Ergo, the women in the show’s makeup department gently requested that the actresses allow themselves to grow into their parts. CG effects also assist as necessary.

Explains Glazer: “God is in the details! The illusion has to be complete.”

I think sticking with "The Devil is in the details" would've been a more appropriate quote considering the topic. Posted Image

The first three episodes were put online. It's not very interesting. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is good, but the rest of the show is fairly weak.

With tonight's episode, Community has surpassed the paintball episodes.

I was constantly laughing.

Yeah, it could be cool. It's nice to see the horror genre getting represented on TV these days.

Hm. You know, in some ways, American Horror Story felt like a Cliver Barker-inspired show.

You'd be surprised at some of the things CGI is used for. :D

Primeval was one of those shows that I watched, always thinking it was well-intentioned, could be a bit better but also realising it was one of those few shows actively geared to be suitable for most ages (but suffering because it was compared to Doctor Who). And frankly, TONS better than Torchwood: Miracle Day.

However, I know quite a few of the behind-the-scenes people on this new spin-off, Primeval: New World currently being filmed in Vancouver (actually on the same lot as Stargate used to be) and there's some early good word that with an increase in budget and gearing it a bit older than before, they may be able to get it just right...

It'll be on Canadian and UK screens by the end of the year...

Huh, I'd heard about that, but didn't know it was already filming. Hopefully it'll be good.

Aiming for an older audience? Does this mean they'll just add a whole heap of shagging ala Torchwood?

I thought that Primeval were interesting and showed potential (the idea of introducing a animal from the future for the finale was really smart and then altering the timeline for the next was good too) but that it slowly slipped off the rails. Never watched the last season because of it. But I'll definitely give the new series a look.

I'd imagine it usually does the opposite.

Primeval: My understanding is that it's probably a 8:00 or 9:00 tv show in the US... so it'd be somewhere between Stargate and Stargate: Universe in tone... ie: accessible by a large demographic, but not having to be quite as twee/coy as the 6:00pm ITV slot meant it had to be in the UK.

I'm more amused that Hugo was nominated for a Hugo. Seems like a shoo-in to me. :)

It should be noted that Sylvester Stallone's Oscar was not nominated for an Oscar.
