No full trailer yet (that I've seen), but a clip from Arrow:

Well, that was boring. Dude's got an impressive body, I have to admit, though.

I actually hope that they stay away from Holmes and Watson having a romantic interest in each other though.

As opposed to Sherlock!

Elementary didn't look all that interesting to me. I like what we see of Holmes himself - they've clearly gone down a different road with him than Sherlock or House (which I would suggest is the same or at least similar road, but in the case of Sherlock the fast lane). I like the idea of Sherlock being a truly troubled person, somebody who is actually bothered by his inability to connect on a normal level. On the other hand, nothing about the show itself stood out very much, and the crux is that there didn't seem to be any Holmes/Watson chemistry. I do agree with what they said there, how that is the most important part of the show - and it doesn't seem to be working. That's what Sherlock got right immediately. Maybe making Watson a woman was a mistake, I don't know, maybe it's just the wrong combination of actors. But it really doesn't seem to be working, from what we saw there.

It looks fine.

It just doesn't actually look Sherlockian.

According to Stephen Mangan on Twitter, the BBC won't be making any more Dirk Gently.

I'm sorry to say that I am absolutely fine with that decision. Posted Image

Average really, nothing special in there yet. It's hard to tell from a trailer but... that's what trailers are for.

On the tv show, it looks really interesting (not sold on that alien armor though), and it has HG Welles, Darla, and Van Goph in the cast, so that's cool, so it's too bad Syfy will cancel it in season two once they realize it costs more money than Sharkodile 2.

On the game, that also looks interesting, maybe not my thing but interesting, although I call bull#### on their claims that player actions will impact the show, it will all be canned situations like there will be a big invasion and the players will drive it off (which they couldn't possibly fail to do) and then on the show they'll go "omg, did you hear how they fought off that invasion?" in a scene taped months prior. It's still interesting and the syngery element could be a lot of fun, but still bull####ery.

I guess the hope there is we keep hearing how games make more money than Hollywood films, if the show acts as an ad for that and brings in the bucks it could (big emphasis on could as it has never been tried before) work out financially.

Which will last longer: The game or the TV show?

They're making a sequel to Mysterious Cities of Gold: http://www.comicsbea...ally-happening/

“Mysterious Cities of Gold” cartoon sequel is actually happening

This will only excite about three dozen people, but those three dozen souls will be stricken mute with wonder and paralyzed by glee 25 year later, there is actually going to be a sequel to MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD, the 39-episode cartoon that debuted in 1982 as a US-Franco-Japanese co-production. Using Japanese animators and DIC and Studio Pierrot writers and talent, I guess you could say this was a forebear of the current “world style” of comics and animation.

...

Anyway, a NEW series is on its way! Once again from DIC and Studio Pierrot — apparently it picks up right where the first season left off, 30 year ago, as Estaben, Zia and Tao go off to Asia in search of more adventure….and more destroyed lost tribes, to be sure. Each episode will once again be accompanied by documentary featurettes at the end of each episode. We’re sure a few people reading this are going to be swept back to their childhoods by these NEW stills:

Spoiler

Now I feel like rewatching the original series.

Hard to predict so far, it could go either way depending on quality, but if I had to guess, I'd say the game, as you can keep even a crappy game afloat for years. Hell, Everquest is still going on and Star Wars Galaxies only closed a couple years back. Now, that doesn't mean that they would be fully supporting the game, it might drop to a skeleton crew to keep the servers chugging rather than ongoing dev teams to continually improve it, but ti would still be alive. But ideally both will be good and survive for several good years.

That's nifty. I never got into the original but I was aware of it, and a new version could be a lot of fun if done by the right people.
