Catching up on Venture Bros season 4. Fantastic. It's a step up from season 3 which was too obsessed with its own back story. Loved the noir episode.

Went to see The Hunger Games earlier and i really enjoyed it. Solid performances all round, especially from Jennifer Lawrence who does a great job bringing Katniss to life.
I thought they did a good job explaining the District's and the Hunger Games without the books first person narrative from Katniss. And i was pleased with the amount of material from the book that was on the screen.
The few negatives i'd say are the ending, it just comes out of nowere and then suddenly the film's over. I felt the same thing about the book so i was kind of surprised that wasn't changed.
And it dosen't really feel like a stand alone film, it definitely has the feeling of being part one in a series. But seeing how well it's likely to do at the box office, i think it's safe to say we'll be seeing 2 & 3 come along rather quickly.

put tv on. it was actual tv. some rather dramatic moments on Come Dine With Me when someone attempted to fake amnesia "I can't remember if you like cheese or not" sparked an intense discussion of whether said person did enjoy a nice bit of brie, or what have you. Riveting.

Thankfully, I found the remote control and am now sticking on The Fifth Element, because I had Leeloo Dallas Multi-Pass in my head for a few weeks now, and it needs to be exorcised.

Just saw The Hunger Games. Solid adaptation. Liked the cast a lot. Lawerence (not surprisingly) was certainly the right choice for the part. A few parts fell a bit flat here and there. There were one of two things that were excluded that I think shouldn't have been (but what are you going to do with a movie that's already close to 2 1/2 hours long). I would have liked some of it to be a bit more brutal, also, but overall it worked for me. In fact, I think everything prior to arriving at the capital is pretty spot on. Looking forward to the sequels at some point in time

Only just got round to renting TRON: Legacy from LOVEFiLM. It was good but meh at the same time. I respect the effects, I like the cast and I like the idea of TRON but it just didn't do much for me. Doesn't help that I can barely remember the original either. The last things I came into contact with that are TRON related was the TRON level in Kingdom Hearts while as I was in my manga phase and that crazy ass level in Saints Row: The Third.

Got RocknRolla from LOVEFiLM too. Still love it, still hope the sequel(s) comes out. Johnny Quid is an eloquent fellow for a heroin fiend. I totally forgot about the little Peep Show reference; "I promised the twins I'd take them to the zoo...". And I forgot about Mark Strong's very brief but very decent Gerard Butler impression. I was about to say Butler is great in it too but everyone is great in it!

Anyone here watched One Man's Grave? That's another one I didn't get a chance to watch until I got LOVEFiLM. Great little revenge movie. I think how low budget and low key it is really makes the film. It's not flashy, it's not all out action. It's brutal, menacing and really quite horrible stuff. Which makes it depressing to watch but in turn it's the perfect revenge film in my opinion. Because, what exactly is nice about revenge? You'd have to be in a really dark place to be in a mindset where that seems like the right idea. Even the main character in his broken state knows it's not right but he's so far gone he doesn't give a shit.
It's strange that such a horrible film can be really quite brilliant.

Ah Strange Days now that's a good movie, totally over the top but still a lot of fun.

And on a bit of a tangent, while i was at my local world of cine today i saw this new thing they've got called D-Box, which is basically a seat that moves with the action on the screen. Anyone tried it?, i couldn't think of anything more distracting than my seat constantly moving around.

I'm watching The Voice, the BBC's new 20 million pound Saturday night show. It started with Jessie J, Tom Jones, Will I Am and some Irish guy I've never heard of (even though the voice-over informed me he was one of the most influential people in music) doing a cringe-worthy version of I Got A Feeling.

For some reason these things work so much better on ITV. When the Beeb tries to do them, they somehow seem cheap, and naff, despite all the money they've spent on it.

As horribly manipulative as it is, at least X Factor works - it's exciting to watch and it expertly pushes the emotional buttons. So far this is one big damp squib.

Yeah, I watched about 10 minutes of it. It was shite. It's weird, how can they try and claim Jessie J and that other dude are anywhere near the same league as Tom Jones (who has a stonking voice) and Will I Am (who I don't really care for but I will acknowledge his success and body of work)?

It's getting worse - they're trying to do an XFactor-style sob-story. The heart breaking story being a girl who suffers from alopecia!

I refuse to tolerate sob stories unless there are laughable unhinged nutjobs to balance out the program. I wish this program nothing but miserable failure.

Me too, it's complete bollocks. It eliminates half the fun of these shows by not including the nutjob factor, and it's based on a false premise anyway - that the music is all that matters. Pop music has always been just as much about image as the music itself anyway, and you can bet your arse when it comes to trying to make a success of the eventual winner, they'll style and package the hell out of them, thus proving the hypocrisy of the show.

I like the banter between the judges, it dosen't seem quite as fake as the X Factor. But if it is all about the voice why are we still getting all these bullshit sob stories, the last guy that was on kept saying be was a delivery driver like it was the worst thing in the world, your lucky you've got a job mate, get your act together and sing.

Just watched this weeks 30 Rock. Having William Baldwin play the movie version of Jack Donaghy was genius. Posted Image

I'm watching Series 7: The Contenders. It's odd. Doesn't really work as a movie.

Much happier watching Britain's Got Talent. Plenty of loopy acts to keep my interest.

Loved the way they were all laughing at that fat kid...but oh wait he can sing, so suddenly its alright that they were just ripping the piss out of him two second ago.

Saw that coming a mile off, especially since they invoked the whole Susan Boyle story earlier in the program.

Watched some episodes of Ringer, which surprisingly enough is kinda starting to make sense after all. Quite some intricate plotting..
