MP in ME isn't a whole lot like the main game. Controls changes and options make it seem very different.

That did take some getting used to, but the basic concepts are the same, just streamlined a bit and with certain different abilities.

I got my SalEng to 20, and tried the HuVan again, but still no joy. I did better, having figured out how the powers worked a bit better and using an SMG instead of a shotty, but I still felt like I was a drag on the team. I just don't get close combat fighting in this game, I'm far too much of a 50m+ player. I'm going to try a Drell Adept next, just to see what they're like. My other option is a Quarian Engineer. I want to get some Asari.

I really enjoy playing as an Asari Vanguard. The class takes some getting used to, but I got pretty good at it. I find the Quarian Infiltrator to be my most worthless character so far. Though I'm still a very low level there.

Played a bit with my DreAd today, I found him interesting, but difficult to play. He's paper thin, usually my shields would shred before I knew there were enemies nearby. On the other hand, he's quite acrobatic, so I was able to get away with my shields down better than most. Reave was cool and I maxed that out first. The grenades were hard to aim, and Lift or Pull or whatever other ability they have is too lame, given that it has zero effect on anything tough. I unlocked Turian Sentinel, might try that next. It's bonus XP weekend, but there seemed to be a lot more poor players on, either that or my Engineer was just so awesome that he was carrying a lot of losers.

Ok, today I got my TurSen to 14, and he worked pretty well. I was fairly survivable, pulled off a kick-ass last man standing situation halfway through a mission where my whole team apparently died halfway through a Cerberus objective wave and I had to take out the last targeted Guardian, and then about a dozen assorted Guardians, Engineers, an Assault troops myself, about half of them at once. Sentinels kind of suck at taking out Guardians, so I had to use a Cobra rocket to drop the target one, one of them I just shot repeatedly point blank through the mail slot with my pistol, one I used my armor-crush on and then shot him a bunch. If I get lucky I can bank a Warp around their shield, but it's hard to do if they're facing you directly. My team kinda blew on that round though, one guy kept dying within the first minute or two of the wave and we wiped several times. We ended up completely wiping on round 10, when they dropped an "Uploading" point right in the middle of a hellspawn of enemies, including three engineers with turrets and an Atlas. There was no way a team could have gotten to that Upload in time.

But overall they're a great little support tank, as their ranged attacks tear up shields and armor, and are good at targeting hiding enemies and stuff, while their armor makes them fairly tough to kill. The major downside to the Turian one is that they can't do any rolling around at all, making it much harder to avoid projectiles and grenades.

Just finished the quarian homeworld priority mission. How the heck is that the paragon ending? Is the renegade ending that you also eat a couple babies?

Oh, probably, that mission has some significant story elements, and is one off the more interesting ones in the game. It's worth losing a few hours to revert to that point.

Krogan Soldiering is the sport of kings, you guys.

I played my TurSen a bit more today, I was the backbone of my team the first few games, but then died valiantly in the last couple. The team I was on switched from Bronze to Silver, which caught me off guard when the Phantoms started pouring out of the woodwork, but I managed to survive a full Silver Reaper match for my first time (well, I died a few times in there, but the party didn't wipe, is my point). Once I put some points into defense I because very tough to kill relative to earlier classes, and I'd maxed by two attacks, so I was pretty mean on offense too. I think it's a slightly tricky class to get started, but once you get into the teens it becomes a very easy class to play. I even love the "detonation" thing, it's very useful for dealing with Husks or anything else that gets way too close, without taking up an entire power slot like Nova Burst does. I did get some fun stuff in my packs though. I'm loving the temporary "Premium Veteran" packs. They cost half and again as much as a Vet pack (so a bit more than half a Specter pack), and yet always have something fun, often several somethings fun. I usually get at least one class card, sometimes two, and a weapon, and a mod.

I'm still only just at the early part of the game - just doing the mission with Grunt, then I go to the Krogan homeworld.
Have to say I quite enjoy the prothean team mate. Not sure how much use he is in the field but his comments, and the NPC reactions to him are hilarious.

"Salarins. Amazing they used to lick their own eyes."
Also have to say anyone not getting that DLC is missing out on quite a decent bit of story.

I just loaded a copy of Mass Effect 2, I got for free a while ago. Does anyone know if you play a fem Shep in MA2, can you import the character into MA3 and change its gender?

Yeah he's my new favorite character, ranking right up there with Mordin.

Btw, for those that don't keep up with the weekly events, next weekend's apparently involves promoting characters, so if you have any characters at or near 20, don't promote them until the weekend.

Good to know. I've got a couple classes at 20 and another 1 or 2 that aren't far away.

he seems okay as a squad mate. just went and recruited him for my 2nd playthrough Which I actually maybe plan on doing nearly exactly the same as the first time around. Might get back with Ash instead of Miranda this time though.
Spoiler

Still need to finish my ME2 EVIL Shep (mwuuahhahahaha!) game before I can import him. And I fancy a clean run-through of them all again at some point. Probably going to roll a FemShep, and probably not a Soldier (as I normally play).

Ogul, the special reward packs sound good. I think I've only had one of them so far. Might have to do a bit of farming with my lvl20s.

seemed like I got a lot more options importing from ME1 to ME2 than I did importing to ME3. Basically just got a bit of face editing.
