#4 are Smurfs.
Yeah, just got that. I thought maybe the last one was Tintin or Popeye, but I don't recognise the stripey things.

It doesn't just seem so, the stuff is really good. It ranges all the way from funny stuff like Lucky Luke to very serious deep shit like Blueberry or Buddy Longway. It's a crying shame that more French books aren't translated, because there seems to be a whole world of high quality books over there.
Not to mention Moebius' stuff.

Whenever we went to France as a kid, and we'd pop to a 'hypermarché' for groceries, I'd always check out the comic section and flick through Lucky Luke. Always loved the art but couldn't make head or tail of the dialogue. Same with the westerns (although I don't think I ever saw Blueberry). It's a crying shame that more French books aren't translated, because there seems to be a whole world of high quality books over there.
You might want to check out Cinebook's website - they specialise in translating French / Belgian comics for a English speaking audience. Lucky Luke is one of their many titles.

Cool, thanks! Are there any particular ones on there you'd recommend? My tastes are pretty broad, although I lean towards more realistic art than cartoony, by and large...

My two main purchases are XIII (assassination / conspiracy tale) and Thorgal (Vikings / fantasy). Valerian (sci fi) is pretty good too. Art is stunning through out all though. Ben (Obiwomble) reads alot of these too, I'm sure he's made recommendations in the tradewaiter thread.

Also Largo Winch is a very good book.Cool, thanks! Are there any particular ones on there you'd recommend? My tastes are pretty broad, although I lean towards more realistic art than cartoony, by and large...
And Van Hamme is iirc one of the best artists in that area.
