True.Emilia Clarke looks much better when she's got brown hair. And I suppose, when she's not acting like a bit of a nutter.
She could still carry off a dragon accessory or two though.

I've been watching the Blu-ray disc and it is fantastic. The scenery is gorgeous and they got this feature where down the right side of the screen are these icons where when activated, tell you who is in the current scene with a few sentence bio, where in Westeros they are and then these clips of the actors describing historical items or culutral viewpoints. I have yet to click on the fourth icon because it stops the show and sends to the Complete guide where they have all the information. I am sad i didnt get to watch it when it first came out but this is the Best DVD set i have ever seen.Good news: 'Game of Thrones' DVD sales set HBO record

Great first episode. Expertly done - they had I think 7 different storylines (Daenerys, Jon, Bran, Rob, Stannis, Joffery et Lannisters, Arya - I think that's them all) and it worked perfectly. I loved the new scenes - Cersi and Littlefinger, Robb and Jamie - I think those weren't in the books. And I love that they seem to be moving on at a brisk clip. Was surprised Crasters Keep has already made an appearance. The new cast all did great work too - filling in the gaps but not overwhelming the main story. Their performances all bring new intensity to the story - from Sansa talking without emotion to Tyrion expressing the utmost delight with the game at hand.
That scene at the end was just brutal. This show might end up being the darkest thing on TV.

A lot of set up, but that's unavoidable. The wolf looked a lot better. Messilinda wasn't a beautiful as I imagined but she is sort of keeping with the trend of the show (more realistic, if that's possible).
Tyrion, as usual, stole the thing.

The new season is here! The new season is here!

I thought it was a strong first episode. No where near as perfect as the pilot episode leading off the first season, but it did the job very well, even if the pacing felt a bit rushed and not as fluid at times.
I enjoyed the new scenes as well. But while I thought the Littlefinger/Cersei was quite powerful and added alot, I did think it was a bit out of character for Littlefinger. He's never that blunt and I don't believe he'd really play such a dangerous game with the Queen regent to her face. He's more devious and subtle than that. He'd definitely act that way if it were Varys or Tyrion...but not Cersei, imho.
