Hi guys and gals,
This is a thread for me to keep everyone posted on the Drivethru anthology I will be putting together.
Conditions have been set out elsewhere, but I can paste them in here later for anyone who is interested.

It would be a good idea to paste the conditions in here for anyone who hasn't been following the topic on Breaking in...
How many pieces do we have so far for this?
Thanks

Broad outline here. Oddities is still happening. I have to finish a small project first, while I am waiting for some of you to get your subs finished, and I want to get some off millarworld guys involved, so it doesn't seem too incestuous.
On that note, Sarah V, if you are interested, and have something to submit, (which I know you have), I would be delighted to have a lady on board too. So drop me a private message, letting me know if you would like to take part.
To remind everyone, this will be an Independent, digital showcase , whose sole purpose is to provide participants with the opportunity to have something they can point to and say, 'I am in that anthology, with other independents, and it is available digitally here.'
We will have to charge for it, even if it is nominal, as I do not agree with giving art away, and the guys at drive thru are understandably reluctant to host or promote something there is no profit in for them, and I am suggesting that we give any profit away to the heroes fund, after drivethru have taken their percentage. I don't expect there will be much, but I do not want to be responsible for doling out dribs and drabs of money every now and again, so that is the purely selfish decision behind the altruism.
I will design the cover, and assemble the mag, get it up on DT, and generally do what I can to get the word out.
A few points,
as stated earlier in the thread, I will not be making quality calls, as opinions are subjective, and it is up to each contributor to satisfy themselves with the quality of their own work, so contributors may find themselves along side other works which in their opinion are not up to their own standard. This is a problem for the other guy, if they are correct in thinking their own work is better.
Contributors will be asked to provide some relevant self promotional material. This is not obligatory, beyond creator credit and a contact email, but it goes against the whole spirit of the enterprise if people do not attempt to explain the piece, their creative views, or their plans for the future. Again, though, I will not be insisting on anything.
People can submit the promo pieces to any other publication, at any time, without it affecting their inclusion in this anthology.
The long term aim may be to produce a quarterly digital review if the first has wings.
Anyone with 3 to 5 finished pages of a self contained story can submit.
A short thank you for all who have come on board. I have your emails and will be in touch as things progress.
For Niall, as he is involved, I will post latest results here, though in future, I will not be answering questions like this outside of email, as this is not a board effort.
Three confirmed. Two more I am waiting on. 1 expressing interest. Waiting for others off board. No names will be given yet, in case anyone drops in or out.
Regs.
Steve.

No panic Tony.I will email you my 4-5 pager later today or tomorrow. I promise. I totally have been busy and forgot about this.
Best guess is we are six weeks from this going live.
I have to mount a campaign for external contributors to broaden the external appeal, so that is going to take a month anyway.

Good stuff, Tony.
I have a rough of the cover done. I think it's pretty cool. Now I have to try and get the sequential tarts to chip in, as I am determined there will be at least one female creator in this.
Onwards and upwards.

Can I just add, I think it's great that other creators are taking the initiative and getting their own projects put together for release.
The old media is dying, we, as writers and artists, don't really need the old dinosaurs of DC and Marvel to get our work out there anymore. If you want to get rich and famous then you're perhaps working in the wrong medium, as most comic creators have other full-time jobs...however if it's for the love of comics then there's nothing stopping us and this anthology is testament.
Long live the new media.

Hi Stu.
Got that. Sent email. All is looking good and on track for publishing end of next month.
Last orders for anyone else submitting is next week, as I have to begin collating offboard contributors then to keep the thing on track.
Regards to all.

Hello all.
I sent a round robin email to all contributors to try and capture the last bio information. We should be fit to publish at the end of the coming week.
That's all, folks.

'I'd buy that for a dollar!'
First ever edition of Ashcan Oddities is now up for sale on drivethru comics for the measly sum of 99cents.
http://comics.drivet...ddities-Issue-1
So what do we have for you this edition?
The rescue mission; A little tale of revenge and desperation, turning to hope. Never has an alien abduction been so badly needed.
Otherworld; This short tale save it’s punch to the very last panel. A daydreamer wants to play the hero, but his family are disappointed in his choice.
Ratman versus Z-man; It’s not easy being Ratman, even when you have a hot companion who needs your skills to save her from a horde of the undead, things never turn out like they do in those pesky comic books.
The Last Great Gameshow; Where is the future of entertainment? In a world where people are chased down and killed for the delectation of the masses, what kind of creature holds the keys to survival?
Management Material: A timely tale of recessionary pressures. What would you do to meet your targets? A harassed middle manager of a crappy fast-food joint struggles to cope with the dumb kids and save his job.
Mirrors; The price of duty can be high. Sometimes very high indeed, as a hard boiled cop finds out too late.
Cannibal Control Department; A high octane tale of mayhem and murder, where the cannibals get their just desserts!
Abercrombie the cat. The amazing world of Nickolai Tesla is explored in this tight little offering,
as we find out what ‘groundhog day’ means to a cat.
Taphophile; One of those odd little stories which hark back to the days of the funny sheets. One page, one punchline.
And finally,
Trade; A self contained excerpt from a longer production which shows you that a woman scorned can be seriously bad for your health.
46 pages of crazy brought to you by some guys you might even know.
PDF format, and yours to keep forever.
What are you waiting for? Get your sweaty eyeballs on this issue, now!
(I am in Stan Lee mode for this.) Serious thanks to all who contributed, even those who sent me png files, rather than jpegs, you know who you are!

Looks good! I've picked up a copy. Expect needlessly harsh criticism tomorrow. Unless I'm not hungover, in which case it will be kind words.

Thanks Gordon. You are a gent. (Crawling shamelessly to avoid said harsh criticism). I think it is best read when you are drunk.Looks good! I've picked up a copy. Expect needlessly harsh criticism tomorrow. Unless I'm not hungover, in which case it will be kind words.
