Did anyone actually like DRIVE ANGRY? I know people went to see it, but did anyone like it? Posted Image

It was braindead fun. If you didn't like Fichtner at least, something is wrong.

I have no idea why people rave about Brick. The idea of setting a noir in a high school could have worked with a really good writer, but Brick's story was so generic that once you figured out who had been transplanted into which stock character - which wasn't hard, if you'd seen much in the way of noir - you knew the entire plot of the movie. I didn't walk out on the off chance that the form would be subverted in some way and surprise me, but I was disappointed.

Yep, it was good fun, embracing its premise and sticking to its stylistic guns from beginning to end. As I went to see that premise and that style I was very happy with the end result.

It's not perfect of course, excess is its middle name and some of that excess is contrived but its more successful and more confident than 'My Bloody Valentine' was with far fewer slips in tone.

I'd see a sequel.

EDIT:
I liked 'Brick' a lot when I saw it in the cinema, and I own the DVD. I've never watched it again though. Its just never the disc I finally put in the machine.

I too enjoyed Drive Angry. Mad, mindless nonsense.

Just watched the Fun With Weapons episodes of South Park. The anime bits actually look pretty damned good and the Let's Fighting Love song cracks me up every time.

Parker Posy in Party Girl is hilarious. She's like Diane Keaton in Annie Hall on coke.

That part where they think Butters is a dog is gold, vintage South Park is still awesome. They showed the Bloody Mary episode here a few days ago, where Stans dad thought he needed a miracle to get cured of his alcoholism. I love that episode so much...

Took my wife to see The Lorax at her request. It's awful, just awful without a single redeeming element.

That's about how I felt. I took my kid to see and spent the second half fighting to stay awake because I couldn't zonk out with a toddler with me.

I'll admit that taste has nothing to do with 'Drive Angry'. Posted Image

There's no accounting for taste. ;)

Surely you were intoxicated at the time.

Come on - no way you had anything resembling fun. Unless by fun you mean despair for the human condition seeping from your eye sockets like the final throes of ebola virus of the soul.

That kind of fun, you mean?

Can't wait to see Looper.

I never saw The Brother Bloom, but I'm a big Brick fan. I'm also in the can't wait for Looper camp.

No. Not that kind of fun.

I'm intrigued, but cautious. Which should be the way I approach any film, but sometimes the hype just gets to you. :D

Hadn't even realised that Rian Johnson was the director who's doing Looper right now. Yeah, that's promising.

Hm. I'll probably see The Brothers Bloom at some point. Any other opinions on that one?

He also directed the "Fly" episode of Breaking Bad, is going to be directing another one in the final season.

I liked it even though I normally really dislike watching Mark Ruffalo and Adrien Brody.

Pretty funny stuff. Of course, there's a reason why fights like this are staged so as to not be dangerous (and it's interesting that it really doesn't register consciously until you see it broken down like this), but it's still funny to see it laid out like that.

This is why I refuse to use a double bladed saber in TOR. The thing is, if they were using pointy swords that stuff would make sense, but if I were choreographing a scene using lightsabers (which are played by plastic rods), I would go for direct hits. If everything works, nobody gets touched anyways, but even if there's a missed parry and the attack lands, it shouldn't hurt too bad. Kids put up with far worse.

You're damn right kids put up with worse. I nearly broke my finger or nose plenty of time playing with my brother and the Darth Maul lightsaber we had.

Accidentally cracked myself in the balls with it a few times too...
