It's one thing to level up naturally as you play through the game, another when it basically says "Stop what you're doing and grind, bitch! No story progression for you until you spend umpteen hours in the one place killing the same things."

OMG, I just got my Smuggler off of Nar Shaddaa, and I LOVE the Smuggler's storyline. He's like a space pimp. The lines you get access to trying to talk down an angry one-night stand are priceless. ;)

Player some 2 player Mortal Kombat last night. Absolutely destroyed Jill on the MK 2011 game but she gave me an absolute pumping on the MK vs DCU game. Her tactic of frantically mashing buttons seemed to pay off better than my tactic of trying to pull off special moves. I may or may not have sulked.

So, I've been playing Kingdom of Amalur lately (about 60 hours in), and it's a lot of fun. I'm at the point where the plot is sort of on the downhill portion of the roller coaster (not in a bad way, just that everything seems pouring towards the final battle), and some elements of it have gotten a bit tiresome, but it's still fun, especially since I've recently unlocked the top tier Finesses abilities, and the Trapsplosion power is my new best friend. It lets you seed the ground in front of you with 8-16 landmines which you can see but the enemies ignore completely, and if you hit them right you can get them to bounce from mine to mine. You can have a LOT of fun with that, luring them around the midfield. Niskaru are especially fun because they just dash straight at you as early and often as possible. I rammed one head first into about a dozen mines before he died. I also have a +3-4 to all my Finesse abilities due to various gear and Traits, so some of them are listed as being "8 of 6" and other such overcharged levels.

New game mode in the community games section of MW3. It's called Infection, everyone starts with the same weapon and after a few seconds one player automatically becomes the infected and has to infect other players by killing them. Infected win if they infect all players before the time runs out, everyone else wins if they don't manage it.

Once you are infected you only have a knife and a throwing knife.

It is actually really entertaining to play, however it is annoying when you set yourself up in a nice camping spot and set up a C4 or Claymore trap only to be changed into the first infected...

I played Kirby Mass Attack for 45 minutes or so yesterday. Have no desire to play it for any more.

Playing more Mortal Kombat. Completed both story modes in MK vs DC. Fun, but not as good as the newer MK game (it's the 3d arenas that sap a bit of fun out of it). Story modes for both sides were pretty fun, though the amalgamation of Darkseid and Shao Khan into the character of Dark Khan was pretty uninspired. Returning both games to LoveFilm now but I'm buying a copy of MK as it's shown it'll be a really good investment.

Thanks for the comments on MK, Bruce - I'd been on the fence about buying the new game. I'm a fan of the originals, years back, but the latest ones haven't been up to much. Sounds like the new one is worth looking out for though.

It definitely is. Long since losing interest in MvC3 I'm still playing the new MK.

  • Interests:My wife. People Helping. A narrowing array of comics, movies, and related materials. Any and all things Gundam. Anything by Millar.
I've really been on a two game kick lately - Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 & Arkham City, when time permits.

I played a bit of Madden 09 (which I enjoy) and a bit of the most recent GoldenEye game...but the above two are my old faithfuls at the moment.

It's great - face punching in full 2D glory! I got a copy off of Amazon of £14 - can't argue with that price!

There are at least two entrances to the Steel Mill after the main story mode, but it can get confusing.

I'm playing James Noir's Hollywood Crimes. Disappointingly, it's really just a Professor Layton clone with vague 60s Hollywood trappings pasted over the top. Not Noir at all.

I want to say "3rd" time. I've completed the main game, went in to mop up some trophies and to do the freeze tech side mission.
So I sneaked in through the water way, on my big ice-raft. Tried to go back out the same way, can't. Can't find any other way out now either.
