hope you feel better, chris.

Thanks! A couple days of rest and I'm feeling much better. Still have a bit of a lingering cough, but no big deal. And on the plus side, all that coughing I was doing gave me a great ab workout. I'm so sore right now!

Watching US TV ads. Fucking nuts, they are either selling drugs or telling you how to sue for some old drug that caused kidney failure and killed people.

It may just be me but the latter kind of puts me off the former.

Got up at 6:30 to go for a run. It was zero degrees outside. Went back to bed.

Have realised it's probably about time I got my eyes tested again. I hate getting new glasses. Always really annoying picking them out in the shop because when I've got them on, I can't see a damn thing. Plus it's expensive.

However, this time I've been canny. Managed to book a free eye test at a Tesco optician (a little dubious about how good it'll be, given it's in a supermarket) and I've ordered four sets of frames for a free home trial from an online glasses shop, so I can feel like a berk trying them on in the comfort of my own home. And I might be able to get some prescription sunglasses cheap as well, which would be nice.

A guy here at work went to Tesco for his last eye test and had no complaints. He also got his glasses from them, I think he said they were £25 (he's not in today so I can't check that) and they look just as good as a pair you'd pay a lot more for in a fancy shop.

Good to know. They've a long way to go to be worse than Specsavers, where I went last time. Well, the guy who did the exam there was fine, everyone else was a jackass.

I went to ASDA for my specs a few years ago, no complaints there either. That said, the only place I've ever had less than great customer service was at Vision Express, where I got my most expensive pair to date.

Ordered my favorite tea with a Dutch online shop. A Taiwanese oolong tea from Li Shan mountain.

Posted Image

It's 30 euros for 100 grams, but it's absolutely magical stuff.

I guess that would be tantamount to:

But seriously, Arjan, 30€ for 100 grams? You sure you haven’t bought some fancy exotic drug exclusively found in some forgotten gully in the Amazon?

100 grams can last a long while; You need only 2 or 3 grams to make a small cup, and you can reuse the leaves of this tea 6 or 8 times or so in one session. Even then this isn't something I would drink everyday, it's something for special occasions like a good wine.

And it is an exotic drug, kind of Posted Image Teas which have a high l-theanin content can get me pretty high.

it's still nowhere near the most expensive tea. This Japanese green tea is about 300 euros for 100 grams, This one, an aged Chinese oolong tea from the 60s is similar in price.

Had another round of tornadoes today. Luckily no one I know was hurt and no one I know had property damage.

But some of the areas hit last April got hit again. Thankfully not nearly as much damage was done this time.

I bought a bottle of wine in Walmart, the guy at the checkout got confused as the label was called Cupcake, so he kept scanning it again confused by the concept of cupcake appearing on the screen when I was buying booze. I don't think he was a Harvard graduate. He then asked for ID and stared at my driving license for 5 minutes as it's half in Welsh.

I'm 38, can common sense not be used?
