I can't wait for this! I met director Timur Bekmambetov for breakfast in London last month and he was buzzing about this. We did Wanted together so you know how great at action he is. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Rufus is the movie's main villain and he's bringing along a big chunk of 3D footage to dazzle your peepers and do a Q and A with the audience after. Yes, Kapow really DOES get a little better every day.

Kapow Drinks

Hey, I thought I'd start up a thread to see if anyone is going to be down in London on Friday evening and wanted to head out to a pub. I'm heading down to London during the day, and it'd be nice to do something the evening before the con begins.

Kapow was amazing last year, but it'd be good to get together with folk off Millarworld before everything kicks off and it'd be great to pick out faces from amongst the crowd as I make my way around the convention.

Plus it's my birthday on Friday, so methinks drinking is definetly required :p

The New Mark Millar? Stan Lee?

What makes Phil Spector the greatest music producer of all-time is that he found new ways of saying old things. Instead of 'I love you, and, I don't love you' Phil wrote 'you've lost that loving feeling', which implies 'I don't love you'... 'bring it on back [i.e. I want you to love me again]'.

Mark Millar does and Stan Lee did that very thing. My top tip is, try that, if you are a writer or artist, who knows what may come.

On another note, I don't know what's gonna happen this weekend at KAPOW, nothing probably. A few people might read my comic and think it's rubbish.

But, I gotta get a job. And writing is the only thing I was ever good at.

I kid you not, my girlfriend is disabled and can't work. I hardly make enough for myself and don't pay rent. I HAVE to get a job writing comics.

My girlfriend said last night (we've been seeing each other for just over 2 months) 'have you seen Touching The Void?' I said, 'seen it? I've lived that bloody movie every day for the past ten years'.

At the end of the day, Mark is one of the only people to make a call on my writing. I have one great four-dimensional scene at the start of TYGER, which I believe could be in any Alan Moore, Mark MIllar or Grant Morrison book.

If you want to interview me for a job at KAPOW, I'm the guy wearing sunglasses indoors.

I stand by St. Thomas of Aquinas' words... 'humility, humility, humility'.

Have you met someone famous?

I almost met Bob Geldof on my way to see Stan Lee a few months back.

There I was on the plane reading my book, when I thought, 'hang on, I wonder who is getting on the plane'. When I put my specs on there he was! I quickly looked down at my book. When Sir Bob got to the end of my aisle, I thought he was looking at my book cover, which was Treasure Island. Instead he said, [thick Irish accent] 'you're sitting in my fooking seat'.

No, not really, Bob took a good swatch at my cover then sat behind me.

If Bob had said that I would have said, 'I've got fists like cold granite anvils - and seven generations of travellers blood running through my veins. Think twice before you talk down to Jack Dempsy, son'.

Enough of the stand up.

CBR is reporting that Justice League International will end with JLI #12, even though it wasn't mentioned in the solicitations released today. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=38668

The Justice League International Annual will be the final adventure for the team, and will be tied in with Justice League #12 (by Geoff Johns).

Sales on the book are fine, so this seems to be story driven. Will there be a new Justice League title with a different creative team and focus?

Self Doubt And The Fortress of Solitude

Self doubt is an insidious cancer that eats away at your being.

When you make your own esteem, why do people hate you more?

I am the first one to acknowledge, 'I'm not the best at anything. I am weak and vulnerable and stupid and loud and ignorant, selfish, rude, hurtful and yet, DARE to dream I am none of these things'.

Maybe it can't be done (my success as a writer). Everyone around me says I'm either mad or stupid, it can't be done, so why not listen to them? Unless, they are right, right?

But, there is just a shimmer of gold in all that mud. Maybe, just maybe , it is possible. Some of the greatest people, world leaders, stood up to be counted when EVERYONE said they were wrong. Why should I be so different? Am I not flesh and blood like them? If you cut me, do I not bleed?

Until that day, let a fool dream of a better world for the disenchanted.

There is no punchline. Superman had his Fortress of Solitude, and that is what it is.

GREAT NEW COMIC STORE IN GLASGOW'S WEST END!

I just passed this yesterday with my kids and literally froze. It's a back issue store where you can get American comics for 50p, but also more specialised stuff like all the books I'd wanted as a kid and all in perfect condition. The address on their website here is out of date. You can now find them in Ruthven Mews, just across from Hillhead tube station and in among all the cool record and DVD stores.

The guys who run the store are great. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. The GIANT SIZE TREASURY EDITIONS blew my mind when I saw them all lined up through the window as well as these life-size cut-outs of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman I remember seeing advertised in the back of DC books as a kid. This is a treasure trove.

Great location too. Go visit!

BOOKS SIGNED AT KAPOW!

Yo,

just a quickie as some people have been in touch about getting stuff signed at Kapow. As you'll see from the schedule, all the creators are doing signings, but as a courtesy to other people waiting in the line behind you these books will be capped at 3 per person. Obviously, if the line is done you can have as many signed as a creator wishes, but as long as someone is standing behind you these will be capped at three books.

Anyone showing up with fifty books to get signed by one guy will either be disappointed or have to come to a private arrangement with them outside their signing times. Several CGC guys have been in touch asking if the convention can arrange for them to get stuff signed separately, but again - as a courtesy to all the fans at the show - everybody will have the same deal. It's simply three books max to be signed at any one time so don't bring along too much and be disappointed.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to watch Troll-Hunter with the baby while the Kapow team prepare tomorrow morning's Total Film press release.
