I know everyone thinks it looks obvious and I definitely think it looks derivative of the 'Transformers' movies, to a really embarassing degree, but will it be a hit?
Because as a trailer for a simplistic, eye-candy, weekend movie, I think this works.

Every time I see a trailer to a Michael Bay film I get exciting about the potential of the movie to be a beautiful, operatic action-fest which takes popcorn entertainment to the next level.
Then I see it and listen to a script that's aimed at 12 year old boys, with fart gags, mysoginistic everything, no emotional journey and terrible pacing.
I still think Bay is visually superb (and these days his audio isn't too bad either), I just wish he had a decent editor and writer on his team. And that he would listen to someone who might try to rein him in...

Bay had nothing to do with this one though - it's directed by Peter Berg. The only connection with Transformers is the fact that it's another Hasbro toy.
Oh! My mistake. In that case, sweet! Berg's great, thoroughly enjoyed Hancock and The Kingdom, maybe this WILL be next level action movie stuff...
...all filmed at Magic Hour, like Bay.

I think Berg's simplistic, better than Bay but still a bit "Janet and John". Still, at least this should make some kind of sense.Oh! My mistake. In that case, sweet! Berg's great, thoroughly enjoyed Hancock and The Kingdom, maybe this WILL be next level action movie stuff...

Alcon Entertainment, the producer/financier teaming with director Ridley Scott to return to the world of the 1982 science fiction classic Blade Runner, is adamantly denying a web report claiming original star Harrison Ford is in early talks to return as replicant hunter Rick Deckard. Andrew Kosove, who runs Alcon with Broderick Johnson, said he and his partner couldn’t sit by as the unsubstantiated report spread like wildfire all over the world. That’s the downside of the digital world, where reports spread virally and nobody checks, particularly if it comes from a site like Twitchfilm.com, which sometimes comes up with some good scoops.
<SNIP>
“It is absolutely patently false that there has been any discussion about Harrison Ford being in Blade Runner,” Kosove told me. “To be clear, what we are trying to do with Ridley now is go through the painstaking process of trying to break the back of the story, figure out the direction we’re going to take the movie and find a writer to work on it. The casting of the movie could not be further from our minds at this moment.”
Kosove said they didn’t want in any way to disparage an iconic actor like Ford, but it certainly sounds as though they do not plan to continue his story line. “It’s like asking if we’re going to make the sky red or blue, there has been no discussion about it,” he said. “What Ridley does in Prometheus is a good template for what we’re trying to do. He created something that has some association to the original Alien, but lives on its own as a standalone movie.” Asked point blank if Ford could resurface, Kosove said: “In advance of knowing what we’re going to do, I supposed you could say yes, he could. But I think it is quite unlikely.”

http://www.deadline....bet-paying-off/‘Battleship’ Recruits $50M In Promotional Partnerships: Universal’s Big Bet Paying Off
Ever since Universal announced its $200M budget buster Battleship, this sci-fi action adaptation of the Hasbro naval strategy board game has been a big question mark around Hollywood. Now, with just two months before the movie opens overseas in April and then a month later in the U.S./Canada, I’ve learned that Universal has hedged its bet. The studio has secured promotional partnerships amounting to $50 million for TV, print, and online advertising as well as the value of in-store packaging. And that doesn’t even count the cross-company synergy effort within Comcast whose home-owned inventory won’t be charged against actual cost. What’s even more important is that these promotional partnerships have come in response to the studio’s pitch to Madison Avenue for Battleship, with director Peter Berg screening 20 to 30 minutes of footage for partners and exhibitors across the globe. And the feeling is that, if the ad people like it and the theatre owners like it, then the moviegoers may not be too far behind. That’s certainly what Universal Studios COO Ron Meyer, Universal Pictures Chairman Adam Fogelson, and Universal Pictures Co-Chair Donna Langley are holding their breath for. One moment of relief: I’ve confirmed that Comcast chief Brian Roberts recently saw a rough-cut of the film and emerged “all smiles”. (NBCUniversal bigwig Steve Burke hasn’t screened it in its entirety yet.) Of course this is the fickle movie biz and the film could still flop.

I'd still prefer a reboot, but as long as they don't tie themselves into too many knots this could work as part of the existing Bourne "universe".

I can't work out what that movie is called. Is it "Nice Knowing You", "Perez Hilton.com", or "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"? (I'm guessing "Nice Knowing You" is the most likely.)
It's "Seeking a Friend For The End of the World."
Perez Hilton is a showbiz blogger / appalling human being, who apparently plasters his name all over movie posters if they appear on his site.
