I love Sinead O'Connor's new single to pieces.

Not bad, Robert. Quite 90s sounding, oddly.
Stephanie - that Tori Amos song has always been gorgeous. I never realised that Adrien Brody was in the video.
I'm just going through the list of Billboard number 1s - I never knew this existed, let alone that it topped the US charts:
Combining two of the greatest things to come out of the 70s - Star Wars and disco!

Yeah, VERY 90s sounding, in a good way. That was my first thought as well.
Also very expensive-sounding. I didn't know people were investing that much money into a Sinead O'Connor album in 2012.
Those Meco Star-Wars-disco songs (they did both Star Wars and Empire) are pretty fun at first but wear out their welcome fairly quickly.

Just listened to the Springsteen album The Rising. From what I'd read about it being his big "post 9/11" album I was expecting it to be pretty heavy on the flag waving but I was pleasantly surprised to see (hear?) it was much more understated than that.

That's a really good album. It's not flag-waving at all. In fact, he uses Middle Eastern instrumentation on one of the songs, which if you think about the climate when he recorded it, was a pretty bold statement.
There's a million ways this song could have gone wrong but it gets me every time, as does "Nothing Man". (Now that I think of it, the chorus is similar to the one in the Sinead O Connor song I posted):

Very much looking forward to his new one, Wrecking Ball, which I think is out tomorrow.
