Short version of my response;

You've encountered people who are far more sensible, far more often, than I have.

Despite some issues with presentation, the only issue I had was that the Jerk Boss would've known Sherlock had been consulted many times before because that fact was covered widely in the press and had made Sherlock famous.

Everything else, allowing for artistic license, is believable human behaviour to me.

Ok that wasn't so short was it? :D

REAL short version; people can be dicks at the worst possible times. :(

Fair enough, in both the short version and the shorter version.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... it's going to be at least another year before we have anything proper to talk about in this thread, isn't it?

It's awesome how many different pictures there are if you do a google search for "I believe in Sherlock". Personally, I'm hoping it's not viral marketing but a meme that sprung up by itself.

I don't mind either way - I'm just pleased that something of such quality has struck a nerve with the general public.

I'm re-watching series 1 and it's even better than I remembered.

Michael Cuesta Signs Overall Deal With CBS Studios, Will Direct CBS Pilot ‘Elementary’

Hot off directing the pilot for Showtime’s acclaimed new drama series Homeland, which he also executive produces, Michael Cuesta has signed an overall deal with CBS TV Studios. Under the seven-figure pact, which starts immediately and runs through June 1, 2013, Cuesta will direct and executive produce the studio’s contemporary Sherlock Holmes drama pilot Elementary.

<SNIP>

The pact reunites WME-repped Cuesta with CBS TV Studios after he directed the pilot for the studio’s CBS drama series Blue Bloods. He also directed the pilot of another hit series, Showtime’s Dexter. Elementary is described as a modern take on the cases of the pipe-smoking private eye created by Arthur Conan Doyle, with Sherlock now living in New York City. Veteran Medium writer-producer Doherty wrote the script and is executive producing with Cuesta, Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly.

That is a great resume. Homeland was brilliant. Dexter was very good as well. The first three seasons were brilliant.

Let's hope they do an interesting and great take on Holmes that doesn't jump Sherlock's train too much.

I think they should have Holmes be a bumbling fool, and it's really Watson who solves all the crimes.

Kind of like Hong Kong Phooey.

CBS has found its Sherlock Holmes.

Former Dexter killer Jonny Lee Miller has landed the lead role in the network's drama pilot Elementary, described as a New York-set modern take on the cases of the famed detective, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The casting marks a return to series TV for Miller, who guest starred in eight episodes as a motivational speaker with a dark secret on Showtime's Dexter. The feature actor (Trainspotting) previously starred on ABC's primetime soap Eli Stone. He has a pair of features in production: Dark Shadows and Byzantium.

Robert Doherty will write and executive produce the CBS TV Studios project, with CBS vet Sarah Timberman (A Gifted Man, Unforgettable) and Carl Beverly on board as executive producers.

Elementary is one of eight drama pilots in contention at CBS.
