I'm watching Party Animals, the 2007 BBC series about lobbyists and politicians starring Matt Smith and Andrea Riseborough. It's not bad, but it's a bit too soapy.

I think if they'd done the book Dirk Gently then it would have been wild enough, but the TV version does seem a little bit too Sherlock.

I'm finding it unwatchable, and I liked the pilot.

Last night there was some BBC science documentary about the coriolis effect, and I have no idea what it was called but I am now in love with Dr Helen Czerski.

It was Orbit: Earth's Extraordinary Journey. It's a whole series for the next few Sundays.

'Conan' the one from last year.

WTF? How does Marcus Nispel get work? It's not just him of course, there's plenty of blame to go around.

Trying to watch the latest Secret Policeman's Ball - a US/UK version. Pretty cringe-making so far, with a read-from-cue-cards opening by Ben Stiller and David Walliams about how we pronounce "aluminium" differently, and British people have bad teeth and Americans are all obese (goody, it's the 70's all over again! Posted Image) and now we're onto Jack Whitehall, whose style is usually pretty low-key. Not tonight though, because he's apparently done about 50 lines of coke before going on stage. Posted Image

I decided to rewatch Transformers season 3, as I've not seen it in a few years and even then I didn't pay much attention.
But! I remember reading that there were continuity problems brought about by the order the episodes were produced and/or aired in. So I went out of my way to find a revised running order that supposedly solves those problems and have been watching it in that order.
It's no better. In fact, it's worse in some places. And then I realised that my (region 2) DVD set of the series has all the episodes in a revised order anyway. One that eliminates all the problems I was looking to avoid. Doi.

I'm watching that at the moment and it's pretty awful. Only good bits so far have been Eddie Izzard and John Oliver (with Bill Hader I think as Julian Assange). Even Jimmy Carr was off form. You could tell the audience wasn't getting into his material.

I'm not sure if anyone here watches Spartacus, but my God this season delivers. Last night's episode had me gasping at the TV three times, and I never react that way to any other show. It's easily my favorite show right now.

Crazy, Stupid, Love. Watched it basically because I like the entire cast a lot, but was plesantly surprised to actually find it genuinely enjoyable.

One of my favourite movies of last year. Probably the best rom-com since When Harry Met Sally.

Catching up on iPlayer:

Inspector Montalbano ep 2: Not the greatest thing ever, but Italian is easy on the ears, I like the characters and the setting, so these are fun murder mysteries.

Dirk Gently: A bonkers but fun enough way to spend an hour.

Melvyn Bragg on Class and Culture: Really liked the first one of this, got the next 2 to watch before they vanish from the player.

Just watched Insidious. After a fairly promising first half (despite not being much of a horror fan, some of it was done pretty well, even if there wasn't anything really new being attempted), I thought it went completely off the rails in the last half hour. A laughably bad ending.

Catching up again on this season of Desperate Housewives, I am loving it.. This season, especially this past episode has been pretty intense and reminded me again of why I loved this show to begin with..
